A Member of the County Assembly (MCA) for Kitui has been arrested in Nairobi over alleged mobile phone thefts reported in the Central Business District in August and September 2026.
Cyrus Kisavi Musyoka, who represents Ikanga/Kyatune Ward in Kitui County, was arrested by detectives from Kamukunji Police Station along Mfangano Street following what the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) described as actionable intelligence.

In a statement, the DCI said detectives had been investigating the MCA over three separate reported phone theft incidents.
“CCTV footage proved instrumental in the investigations, with detectives positively identifying him in connection with the reported incidents,” the agency said.
The arrest also brought to light an outstanding warrant against Musyoka in a separate criminal case.
According to the DCI, the MCA is wanted in Criminal Case No. 112/303/2024 after allegedly failing to attend court following his release on bond by the Makadara Law Courts, where he had been charged with stealing.
The DCI did not provide further details about the earlier case or the circumstances surrounding the alleged phone thefts.
Musyoka was being held in custody as detectives processed him ahead of his arraignment in court.
The allegations have not been tested in court, and the suspect remains entitled to the presumption of innocence.
The DCI reiterated its commitment to pursuing criminal investigations irrespective of the status of those implicated.
“No one is above the law,” the agency said, adding that detectives would continue to pursue leads and bring suspects before the courts to answer to alleged criminal conduct.
The agency did not indicate when Musyoka was expected to be arraigned or whether he had been formally charged over the three reported phone theft incidents.
