Samsung Electronics East Africa has expanded its retail presence in western Kenya with the opening of a new Samsung Experience Store at Naivas Mall in Kisii.

The outlet, operated by Samsung EIP partner Nexora Agencies, is the company’s 24th Samsung Experience Store in Kenya and brings its total number of Brand Stores in the country to 26.

The expansion comes as Kisii continues to strengthen its position as a major commercial centre in the region, driven by agriculture, trade and a growing business community.

Samsung said the new store would bring its products and services closer to consumers in Kisii and neighbouring counties, while giving customers a dedicated space to experience its latest mobile phones and consumer electronics.

“Kisii represents an important opportunity for Samsung as we continue to grow our presence across Kenya,” said Manish Jangra, Head of Mobile Experience at Samsung Electronics East Africa.

“The region has a strong economic base, an active consumer market and a growing need for technology that supports how people live, work, learn and do business.”

Jangra said the opening formed part of Samsung’s wider strategy of investing in markets where it sees opportunities to make its products and services more accessible.

The company said the Kisii outlet would allow customers to receive product guidance, interact directly with Samsung representatives and experience its latest technology before making purchases.

The opening comes against the backdrop of rising smartphone use in Kenya.

Data from the Communications Authority of Kenya shows that smartphones accounted for 63.7 per cent of mobile devices connected to Kenyan networks by the third quarter of the 2025/26 financial year, while mobile broadband usage also continued to rise.

Smartphones have increasingly become important tools for communication, mobile money and other financial services, education, commerce and access to information, as well as for small businesses seeking to reach customers.

Samsung has also been working with financing partners to address the cost of smartphone ownership.

The company’s partnership with asset-financing firm Watu is aimed at helping more consumers acquire smartphones by reducing the burden of paying the full cost of a device upfront.

“Partnerships are an important part of how we extend our reach and respond to the realities of the Kenyan market,” said George Kebaso, EIP Lead at Samsung Electronics East Africa.

He said Watu had contributed to Samsung’s smartphone penetration efforts by helping address the upfront cost that can prevent some consumers from acquiring devices.

“The significance of that access goes beyond owning a device. A smartphone can give consumers greater access to financial services, information, education, commerce and communication,” Kebaso said.

He added that smartphone access could also create new opportunities for individuals and small businesses to connect with customers and markets.

The Kisii opening is part of Samsung’s continued expansion of its Kenyan retail network through partnerships with Enterprise Investment Partners.

The company said the strategy was aimed at strengthening its presence in markets with growing consumer and business activity.

For consumers in Kisii, the new outlet provides a physical location where they can access Samsung’s mobile devices and wider consumer electronics portfolio without having to travel outside the region.

The Samsung Experience Store at Naivas Mall is now open to the public.
