Kisii County has reached 61 percent of its voter registration target in the ongoing mass listing exercise, according to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), with notable disparities across constituencies.
Data shared during a visit by IEBC Commissioner Francis Oduor shows Nyaribari Chache recording the highest performance at 114 percent of its target, surpassing expectations.

In contrast, Nyaribari Masaba trails at 41 percent, placing it among the lowest-performing areas in the county.
The figures highlight uneven uptake of the registration drive, even as the commission continues to push for broader participation ahead of the 2027 General Election.
During the visit, Oduor assessed the progress of the exercise and reiterated the commission’s call for eligible citizens to register, warning that those who fail to do so will not be able to take part in the next election.
Separately, Nyaribari Chache parliamentary aspirant Okeng’o Nyambane welcomed the turnout in his constituency but also used the moment to urge wider participation.
“I want to sincerely thank our people of Nyaribari Chache for coming out in large numbers to register; this is a clear indication that you are ready to shape your future through the ballot,” he said.
Nyambane called on those yet to register—particularly young and first-time voters—to take advantage of the ongoing exercise, noting that participation will ultimately shape the constituency’s development priorities.
The IEBC has maintained its nationwide appeal for registration as it seeks to boost the voter roll and close gaps in regions recording low turnout.
