Nyanza Region officials have hailed the successful hosting of the Term One National Secondary Schools Championships in Kisumu County.
They praised teamwork and strong regional performance while shifting focus to the upcoming Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association (FEASSA) games in Tanzania.

In a statement, Nyanza Region Secondary Schools Sports Association (NRSSSA) Secretary Geoffrey Nyantika commended schools, coaches, referees and organizers for delivering a well-coordinated event.
“This was not just an event; it was a statement of teamwork, resilience and excellence,” he said.
He lauded the support from the office of the Regional Director of Education (RDE) and the Kenya Secondary Schools Heads Association (KESSHA), as well as the contribution of coaches and referees, noting that some officials advanced to handle national finals.
Hosting institutions—Kisumu Boys, St. Theresa’s, Bishop Ojolla, Kisumu Day and Lions—were also recognized for their organization and hospitality.
Nyantika highlighted teams that will represent the region at the FEASSA Games, including Nyamira Girls, Ngiya Girls, Ringa Boys, Kisumu Day, Kisii School, St. Mary’s Yala and Nyakach Girls, alongside athletes in swimming and track disciplines.
“Now, all eyes are on Morogoro, Tanzania. We are not just going to participate—we are going to compete, excel and win,” he said.
He urged continued preparation ahead of Term Two competitions, expressing confidence that more teams will qualify for the regional games.
