President William Ruto has defended the cooperation between the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) and Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), saying the broad-based arrangement will continue to drive national unity and accelerate development.
Speaking on the second day of his tour of Kisii and Nyamira counties, the President said the partnership has strengthened service delivery and cohesion across the country.

“We will continue uniting the country and preaching peace under the broad-based arrangement,” he said.
Ruto criticized opposition leaders, accusing them of spreading propaganda and threatening instability ahead of the next election.
“We cannot allow a few people to destroy our country. Our destiny will be determined by all Kenyans,” he said.
Deputy President Kithure Kindiki echoed the remarks, warning against attempts to incite chaos and insisting that national unity must prevail.
In Nyamira County, the President announced that a Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) station will be constructed at Ikonge at a cost of KSh300 million, dismissing claims the region had been excluded from the Naivasha–Kisumu extension.
He said the railway will support transport of farm produce, including tea, bananas and macadamia.
Ruto also presided over the laying of the foundation stone for Nyamira University College a second time, announcing an additional KSh300 million to supplement the initial KSh200 million allocation, alongside another KSh300 million for student hostels.
He further pledged KSh20 million to support relocation of a secondary school to pave way for the institution.
The President said the government is in talks with Nyamira County to construct a KSh1 billion hospital and has set aside KSh950 million for a new stadium.
He also highlighted ongoing investments in electricity connectivity, with KSh300 million earmarked to connect 20,000 households under the last-mile programme.
In Kisii County, Ruto launched the construction of the Bobaracho–Ting’a road and access roads to Gianchore Tea Factory, aimed at easing transport for farmers.
He also laid the foundation stone for the Kegogi Modern Market, part of a wider programme to build 22 markets across the county at a cost of KSh2.5 billion.
Kisii Governor Simba Arati backed the UDA–ODM cooperation, saying it has accelerated development.
Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo also welcomed the projects, citing their impact on healthcare, education and infrastructure.
The President said his administration’s development record, including investments in education, infrastructure and economic stabilization, will form the basis of its appeal to voters.
