Kenya is mourning the death of Ol Kalou Member of Parliament David Njuguna Kiaraho.
His passing was formally communicated to the National Assembly by Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.

In an official notification dated Sunday, March 29, 2026, the Speaker announced that the third-term legislator died at around 1:20am while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital.
Wetang’ula described the loss as “untimely” and a blow to Parliament and the country.
“It is with profound sorrow that I notify Members of the National Assembly… of the untimely demise of the Member for Ol Kalou,” Wetang’ula said, extending condolences to the family, friends and constituents of the late MP.
Kiaraho, who served as MP for Ol Kalou Constituency in Nyandarua County since 2013, was in his third term, having been re-elected in 2017 and 2022.
He was an active member of key parliamentary committees, including the Departmental Committee on Transport, Public Works and Housing, and the Procedure and House Rules Committee.
Born on October 2, 1963, Kiaraho attended Alliance High School before pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the University of Nairobi.
Before joining politics, he built a career as a principal architect at Archgrid Systems, earning recognition in infrastructure and built environment projects.
The Speaker also announced the formation of a funeral preparation committee to coordinate burial arrangements and support the family.
The team will be led by Kinangop MP Kwenya Thuku, assisted by Nyandarua Woman Representative Faith Gitau and other members.
Kiaraho’s death comes barely a month after the loss of another MP Johanna Ngeno, underscoring a difficult period for Kenya’s political leadership.
His passing leaves a leadership vacuum in Ol Kalou Constituency and is expected to trigger a by-election in accordance with the Constitution.
