A legal team representing Nyamira Governor Amos Kimwomi Nyaribo has requested the Senate to summon the County Assembly Speaker and Clerk over disputed documents used in the governor’s impeachment proceedings.
In a letter addressed to the Clerk of the Senate, lawyer Elias Mutuma of Mutuma Gichuru & Associates claims that four proxy voting letters submitted by the County Assembly are forgeries.

The MCAs named—Julius Obonyo Nyang’ana, Priscillah Nyatichi Mokora, Edna Moraa Obara, and Elijah Sagwe Abere—have since sworn affidavits denying authorising any proxy votes.
“These documents are categorically denied by the members themselves. Their position is clear: they never issued the letters,” Mutuma stated.
The legal team is seeking Senate-issued summons for Speaker Thaddeus Nyabaro and Clerk Duke Simon Onyari to appear and produce the original letters.
A prior request for the documents, sent on 26 November, reportedly went unanswered.
The move aims to safeguard the integrity of the Senate’s inquiry into the impeachment process.
The process got underway at the Senate on Wednesday.
