A man has been arrested in Nairobi over allegations of obtaining Sh586,500 from three job seekers from Nyamira County by falsely claiming he could secure them employment at the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
The suspect, identified as Vincent Ongera Mambo, was arrested in the Kencom area following a police operation mounted by an undercover team from Central Police Station.

According to a police report seen by GPC, the victims allegedly paid the money after the suspect claimed to possess genuine NSSF employment letters and promised to secure them jobs as an office assistant.
One of the victims, Vane Kemunto Morara, reportedly sent Sh130,000 as a down payment towards the agreed Sh400,000 fee.
She later travelled to Nairobi to complete the payment and collect the employment documents after the suspect shared what appeared to be an employment letter through WhatsApp.
However, the suspect allegedly demanded that she send the outstanding balance before they could meet, raising her suspicions and prompting her to report the matter to the police.
Two other victims, Isaac Manyara and Gloria Kemunto, had reportedly sent Sh256,500 and Sh200,000, respectively, to the suspect over similar job offers.
All three victims are residents of Nyamira County and separately alerted the police after their dealings with the suspect.
Police mounted an operation that led to the suspect’s arrest, with investigators recovering eight NSSF calling letters believed to be fake.
Other documents recovered included an Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) clearance certificate, a Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) compliance certificate, a police clearance certificate, a Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) tax compliance certificate and a credit reference bureau (CRB) certificate.
The case is being handled by officers at Central Police Station as investigations into the alleged employment scam continue.
