Maraga warned that public officials found guilty of stealing public resources will be jailed.

Possible United Green Movement (UGM) presidential flagbearer David Maraga has pledged to take firm action against corruption if elected next year.

Maraga warned that public officials found guilty of stealing public resources will be jailed.

Speaking at Ngata Gate SDA Church in Nakuru during the memorial service of the late Herzon Omori Maina, Maraga said his government would uphold the Constitution, respect the courts and enforce accountability without fear or favour.

“Nitaweka wao ndani,” the former Chief Justice (CJ) declared, adding that no public officer would be shielded from prosecution because of political connections or social status.

Maraga was received at the church by Pastor Joseph Namunyu.

He also urged members of the Kisii community not to support his presidential bid merely because they shared an ethnic background with him.

Instead, he challenged Kenyans to elect leaders based on integrity, competence and a clear vision for the country, rather than tribal loyalty.

Maraga said the 2027 General Election should be a contest of ideas and leadership as the country seeks leaders committed to justice, national unity and development.

His message combined a pledge to tackle corruption with an appeal to voters to look beyond ethnicity when deciding who should lead the country.
