Alex Mwangi claimed his maiden Kenya Amateur Golf Championship (KAGC) Series title after holding off a strong field to win the NCBA Diani Beach Masters at Diamond Leisure Beach & Golf Resort over the weekend.
The Windsor Golf Hotel & Country Club player finished the three-day championship on two-over-par 218 after rounds of 76, 71 and 71, beating Eugene Wafula by three shots.

Wafula carded rounds of 73, 72 and 76 to finish second on five-over-par 221, while Karen Country Club’s Kellie Gachaga and Windsor youngster Kanana Muthomi shared third place on seven-over-par 223.
Mwangi’s victory came a week after he finished second to Josphat Rono at the NCBA Malindi Open ‘Vasco da Gama Cup’. He carded 10-over-par 220 in Malindi, with Rono securing his maiden KAGC title on 217.
In Diani, Mwangi recovered from his opening 76 with two successive rounds of 71 to pull clear of the chasing pack and secure the title.
“I am very happy to have won. After finishing second in Malindi, I came to Diani determined to put together a better performance, and I managed to stay consistent over the three rounds,” Mwangi said.
“The two 71s gave me a good position going into the final day, and I am delighted to get my first KAGC win.”
Elvis Muigua, Kamoza Longwe and Dickson Barasa tied for fifth on 11-over-par 227 as the coastal championship produced another competitive field following the Malindi Open.
Speaking during the closing ceremony, NCBA Diani Branch Manager Dickson Masha congratulated the players and said the bank would continue supporting golfers pursuing their ambitions.
“At NCBA, we believe in Banking on Belief, and that means supporting people as they pursue their ambitions and creating opportunities for them to grow,” Masha said.
“Our continued support for golf reflects this belief, and we are pleased to play a part in the development of the game and the golfers who continue to compete at this level.”
The NCBA Diani Beach Masters was part of the 2026 KAGC Series, which brings together leading amateur golfers competing for championship honours and ranking points.
The tournament was organised as part of NCBA’s continued support for amateur golf in partnership with the Kenya Golf Union, providing competitive opportunities for golfers to develop their game.
