Kisumu County will host the seventh edition of the County Assemblies Sports Association (CASA) Games from October 25 to 31, bringing together more than 6,000 participants from Kenya’s 47 county assemblies.
The week-long games will officially open on October 25 at Mamboleo National Stadium in Kisumu.
The announcement was made on Thursday during a ceremony at the newly built, multimillion-shilling Kisumu County Assembly premises, attended by Speakers, Clerks, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), sports representatives and staff from county assemblies across the country.

The occasion was graced by Kisumu County Deputy Governor, Dr. Mathew Ochieng’ Owili and County Assembly Speaker Hon. Elisha Oraro, who welcomed members of the CASA National Governing Council (NGC) to the county.
CASA National Chairperson Hon. Peter Imwatok Jateso and Secretary General Hon. Bernard Omboko formally handed over the symbolic host chain to Kisumu, marking the county’s official assumption of hosting duties.
They were accompanied by Speakers and Clerks from several county assemblies, including Homa Bay, Bomet, Bungoma, Kitui and Nakuru.
The 2026 games will be held under the theme, “Beyond Competition: Forging Lasting Bonds Through Sports and Culture.”
Speakers at the ceremony called on participants to use sports and culture to strengthen unity, build lasting relationships and foster a shared sense of national purpose.
The games will feature football, volleyball, netball, handball, golf, board games, badminton and para-volleyball, among other disciplines.
Speaking at the ceremony, Imwatok said the games would also provide an opportunity to commemorate the contribution of the late former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga to Kenya’s devolution process.
“We are here to also celebrate the commemoration of the founder and father of devolution, my mentor, the late Hon. Raila Odinga. We hail his service in ensuring we are where we are today as county governments because of his spirited fight for devolution,” said Imwatok.
He said participants would honour Odinga’s contribution to devolution as they took part in the sporting activities.
“As the celebrations kick off here in Nyanza, we shall do the sports event with joy as we show gratitude to him and the people of Kenya,” he said.
Kisumu becomes the latest county to host the CASA Games, following previous editions held in Nairobi, Mombasa, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Bungoma and Meru.
The 2026 edition is expected to bring together thousands of county assembly staff and representatives for a week-long programme combining sports, culture, teamwork and inter-county engagement.
