Young entrepreneurs and innovators from various countries including Kenya can now apply for the AU-EU Youth Action Lab grants and turn ideas into practical solutions with community impact.

The Entrepreneurship and Innovation Grants are open to eligible youth-led organisations in Kenya and 11 other African countries, with applications closing on September 23, 2026.

The programme is being implemented under the AU-EU Youth Lab Programme and seeks to support young people to strengthen their ideas, develop innovative solutions and create opportunities for positive change in their communities.

Other eligible countries are Ethiopia, Mozambique, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia (Somaliland), Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The AU-EU Youth Action Lab said the grants provide an opportunity for youth-led organisations to move innovative ideas beyond the concept stage and develop initiatives capable of delivering tangible community benefits.

“You have the idea. There is funding to help you make it happen,” the programme said in a message encouraging young innovators and entrepreneurs to apply.

The programme is also calling on youth leaders, organisations working with young people, government institutions and other stakeholders involved in youth empowerment to share information about the funding opportunities within their networks.

It said there was a particular need to increase participation in Mozambique, Senegal, Tunisia, Somaliland and Zimbabwe, which have previously recorded relatively low registration levels.

Youth Advisory Board members from the four countries will also undertake targeted media engagements to provide young people with information on the grants and guide them on how to participate.

Eligible organisations have been urged to review the grant requirements and submit their applications before the September 23 deadline.

Information on the grants, eligibility requirements and application process is available through the AU-EU Youth Action Lab platforms.
