A record field of 244 golfers teed off at Vet Lab Sports Club on Saturday for the eighth leg of the Road to Somabay Golf Series, with four players securing coveted qualification slots to the tournament’s Grand Finale.
Backed by CIB Bank, the event attracted golfers from across the country, underlining the growing popularity of the Road to Somabay Series, which has become one of Kenya’s leading amateur golf circuits.

Keith Gretton emerged as the standout performer of the day, carding an impressive 41 Stableford points off handicap 27 to claim the Overall Winner title. Martin Makundi followed closely with 40 points to finish as the Overall Runner-up.
In Division A, Niral Shah produced a solid round of 38 points to take top honours, while Gulraaj Sehmi settled for runner-up position on 36 points.
Division B witnessed a tightly contested battle, with Nelson Shiahale returning 38 points to edge Faith Macharia, who finished one point behind on 37.
Kyong Suh topped Division C after posting 34 points.
The performances earned Gretton, Makundi, Shah and Shiahale qualification to the prestigious Road to Somabay Grand Finale, where they will join other top performers from previous legs of the series.
The Road to Somabay Series continues to provide a competitive platform for amateur golfers while offering participants the chance to earn an exclusive international golfing experience.
Attention now shifts to the ninth leg of the series, scheduled for July 11 at Karen Country Club, where golfers will once again battle for qualification spots and valuable series points as the race to the Grand Finale gathers momentum.
