West Mugirango MP Stephen Mogaka has endorsed the 2026/27 budget estimates, describing them as a transformative roadmap that will accelerate development in Nyamira County and spur economic growth across the country.
Speaking in Parliament during debate on the Budget and Appropriations Committee Report, Mogaka said the proposed allocations prioritize key sectors that are critical to improving livelihoods and driving national development.

“This budget demonstrates a commitment to improving the quality of life for ordinary Kenyans,” he said.
“If fully implemented, it has the potential to take Kenya to another level of development and prosperity.”
The legislator welcomed increased funding for the education sector, saying greater investment in schools and learning institutions would improve educational outcomes and create opportunities for future generations.
“A well-funded education system remains the foundation of national development and economic transformation,” Mogaka told the House.
He also praised the government’s commitment to healthcare, highlighting allocations earmarked for health infrastructure projects in Nyamira County.
According to the MP, facilities such hospital hostels and other health-related initiatives stand to benefit from government investment aimed at improving access to quality healthcare services.
On agriculture, Mogaka lauded the proposed funding for the livestock sector, revealing that discussions with the Ministry of Agriculture and other stakeholders are underway to establish cooling facilities for livestock farmers.
The project, he said, will help reduce post-harvest losses, increase farmers’ incomes, and strengthen food security.
Mogaka welcomed enhanced allocations to roads and transport, expressing confidence that planned bitumen road projects in Nyamira County would finally be implemented.
“Improved road networks will stimulate trade, enhance mobility, and open up rural areas to economic opportunities,” he said.
The MP further commended Parliament and the government for approving stipends for village elders, describing them as longstanding community servants who have often worked without compensation.
“Village elders are unsung heroes who play a critical role in conflict resolution, social cohesion, and grassroots administration,” he said.
Mogaka also called for increased investment in security to create a safer environment for development and economic growth.
He welcomed the budget’s focus on expanding access to clean water through last-mile connectivity projects, noting that improved water infrastructure would particularly benefit women and families in rural areas.
“Investments in water projects will ease the burden traditionally borne by women and girls who travel long distances in search of water,” he said.
The legislator praised the Budget and Appropriations Committee, chaired by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, for what he termed a balanced and equitable distribution of national resources.
He dismissed claims that the budget favored certain regions, insisting that the allocations reflected fairness and inclusivity.
Mogaka concluded by urging Members of Parliament to support the estimates, which he described as one of the most progressive budgets presented in recent years.
“This budget embodies a development-oriented vision capable of driving Kenya toward greater economic prosperity and global competitiveness,” he said.
“I urge all Members to support it and ensure that its benefits reach every corner of the country.”
