Family, friends and national leaders gathered in Kitengela to celebrate the life of Rukia, wife of former Solicitor General (SG) Ken Ogeto and bid her a final farewell.
The late Rukia was remembered as a loving mother, devoted wife and humble friend as mourners gathered for her burial on Tuesday.

The solemn ceremony brought together prominent figures from across the country, all united in honoring a woman remembered for her warmth, humility, devotion to family and quiet strength.
Among those who paid tribute was Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke, who spoke movingly about a friendship between the two families that spanned many years and extended far beyond professional circles.
Isaboke recalled that even when Ken Ogeto was serving as SG and he was working in the private sector, the families remained closely connected through bonds of trust, mutual respect and shared values.
“Some relationships go beyond official positions and professional networks. They become family. The Ogeto family has been part of our lives for many years, and Rukia was at the center of that bond,” he said.
He described the late Rukia as a gracious and humble woman whose kindness and commitment to her family left a lasting impression on all who knew her.
The Principal Secretary reflected on the enduring values that define a meaningful life, noting that while public achievements often attract attention, a person’s true legacy is measured by the relationships they build and the impact they have on others.
He said Rukia’s life embodied those qualities and would continue to inspire family members, friends and the wider community.
The funeral drew a distinguished gathering of leaders and professionals, underscoring the respect held for both Rukia and the Ogeto family.
Among those present were former Interior Cabinet Secretary and Jubilee Party Deputy Leader Dr. Fred Okengo Matiang’i, former Principal Secretary Susan Mochache, former Cabinet Minister Prof. Sam Ongeri, veteran lawyer and businessman Mohamed Nyaoga, former Nyaribari Chache Member of Parliament Richard Tong’i, senior government officials, legal practitioners, religious leaders and members of the wider Gusii community.
Throughout the service, speakers painted the portrait of a devoted wife, loving mother and dependable friend whose unwavering support and compassion touched many lives.
They described her as a pillar of strength within her family and a woman whose leadership was often expressed through quiet acts of care and service rather than public recognition.
As mourners gathered around the family to bid farewell, the prevailing message was one of gratitude for a life well lived and a legacy firmly rooted in love, humility and family unity.
“Rukia’s life exemplified these virtues and will continue to inspire those who knew her,” Isaboke said.
