Siaya Governor James Orengo has claimed that his political tour of Homa Bay County was disrupted by violence allegedly orchestrated by his opponents.
Even so, he declared the visit a success and vowed to continue his political engagements in the region.

In a statement released after the tour, Orengo alleged that his convoy came under attack at several points in Homa Bay County, beginning shortly after his ferry docked at Mbita.
“Despite a well choreographed campaign of terror and violence, my tour of Homabay County was a resounding and historic success,” Orengo said.
“The forces of darkness tried to stop us, but the power of the people triumphed.”
The governor claimed that a group of goons targeted his motorcade in Mbita, smashing his vehicle’s windscreen and damaging several other vehicles in the convoy.
“They severely underestimated the people, however, as the public swiftly repulsed them, allowing us to hold two massive, electric rallies in Mbita Town and Rusinga Island,” he said.
According to Orengo, the situation worsened as the convoy headed to Sindo in Suba South, where he alleged that burning tyres were used to barricade roads and stones were hurled at his team.
“A dedicated member of our team, Cvilizer Aran, was brutally attacked,” he claimed, adding that supporters intervened and enabled the rally in Sindo to proceed.
The Siaya governor further alleged that another attack occurred at Kodoyo Junction as his team travelled back toward Kisumu, claiming that the road had been blocked using a concrete electric pole and large boulders.
“Hired militia rained stones on our convoy and hacked two of our team members, who are currently nursing severe injuries at Tranquil Hospital in Homabay,” Orengo said.
He accused Gladys Wanga of being behind the alleged attacks, saying it was “deeply shameful and hypocritical” for her to “masquerade as a leader and a mother while orchestrating the cold blooded slaughter of other mothers’ children for political mileage.”
Orengo also criticised security agencies, alleging that police officers failed to intervene during the incidents.
“What is even more telling is that all these violent incidents occurred in the full glare of the police, who stood by as mere bystanders,” he said.
The governor further claimed that the government had withdrawn his official security detail ahead of the tour, alleging that the move was intended to expose him to danger.
“To William Ruto, I say this clearly: Do not attempt to take my life,” Orengo stated.
“I have spent my entire life in the trenches fighting for the democracy and constitutionalism that this nation enjoys today.”
He thanked residents of Homa Bay for what he described as their support and protection during the tour, adding: “Homabay, I will be back.”
