Radio Jambo’s beloved sports commentator Paul Kimani Kaberia, fondly known as Diblo, has passed away, leaving Kenya’s sports fraternity in shock and mourning.
Diblo died early Sunday morning while receiving treatment at hospital in Ruaraka after a short illness.

His distinct voice, humor, and passion for the game made him one of the most recognizable figures in Kenyan sports broadcasting.
Fans across the country remember him for his vibrant storytelling and his trademark “Taaaarifa!” shout that electrified football commentary.
The Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK), where Diblo was a dedicated member, expressed deep sorrow at his passing.
In their statement, SJAK President James Waindi said: “We have lost not just a brilliant journalist, but a brother and a teammate whose passion for the game was evident in everything he did.”
“Diblo’s passing leaves a massive void in the sports journalism fraternity and within SJAK FC.”
Diblo was a pillar of camaraderie within SJAK FC, where his team spirit and humor brought joy to colleagues.
His colleagues at Radio Jambo and the wider media fraternity have described him as an exceptional storyteller who elevated sports journalism in Kenya.
Renowned broadcaster Maina Kageni expressed his grief in a heartfelt message, writing: “What a loss? He was talented, passionate and committed… an exciting presenter and commentator.”
“My very sincere condolences to friend and family…. thank you for everything you did on radio Diblo… tutaonana baadaye….”
The Football Kenya Federation also joined in mourning, with President Hussein Mohammed noting that Diblo was “a respected sports journalist, who was very passionate to his craft”
“His contributions to sports journalism will be remembered and missed.”
