Athletics Kenya has announced significant changes to its competition calendar, affecting both the Premium Weekend Meet and the upcoming trials for the World Masters Athletics Championships.
In a statement, the federation confirmed that the Premium Weekend Meet, initially slated for May 29–30, has been rescheduled.

The event will now be incorporated into the National Athletics Championships, which are set to run from June 18–20 at the Nyayo National Stadium.
“The meet will now be incorporated into and jointly conducted during the National Athletics Championships scheduled for 18th–20th June 2026 at the Nyayo National Stadium,” Athletics Kenya stated.
This year’s National Championships will also serve as the official trials for the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, bringing together athletes from across the country following a series of regional competitions.
Athletics Kenya urged athletes and stakeholders to take note of the changes and continue their preparations.
Meanwhile, the federation confirmed that trials for the World Masters Athletics Championships will proceed as planned on May 30, 2026, at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
“The trial event will be used to select a team that will represent Kenya at the World Masters Athletics Championships to be held in Daegu, South Korea on 26th August to 3rd September 2026,” the statement read.
Further technical details regarding the program of events, athlete invitations, and selection criteria for both the National Championships and the Masters trials will be communicated in due course.
