The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has thrown its weight behind the upcoming Safaricom Chapa Dimba Season 5, moving to calm concerns and reaffirm its commitment to youth football development across the country.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the FKF National Executive Committee (NEC) confirmed it is fully supportive of the tournament, following a consultative meeting with Safaricom ahead of the scheduled launch on May 9.

“The NEC is not opposed to the launch of the Chapa Dimba tournament. On the contrary, we welcome and deeply appreciate partnerships such as Safaricom’s,” the statement read.
The federation noted that the tournament has played a vital role in nurturing grassroots talent, building on four previous successful editions that have contributed significantly to youth empowerment and the growth of football in Kenya.
FKF further revealed that Safaricom has committed to a structured engagement process after the launch to ensure the competition runs in full compliance with the federation’s constitution and approval procedures.
“This will ensure that the tournament proceeds successfully… in a manner that benefits all stakeholders, most importantly, the young players across the country,” FKF stated.
Amid concerns from some quarters, FKF also reassured its existing partners, including SportPesa and Azam, that all contractual obligations will be upheld.
“The NEC remains committed to fostering an enabling environment… while upholding the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance,” the statement added.
With the green light now clear, attention shifts to the pitch as Chapa Dimba Season 5 promises another thrilling platform for emerging football stars to shine.
