Betting firm SportPesa has reaffirmed its long-term commitment to Kenyan football even as governance disputes rock the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
In a statement issued Monday, the company said its primary focus remains the “continued growth, stability, and integrity of the game” despite ongoing leadership wrangles within FKF.

SportPesa acknowledged recent gains made in Kenyan football under FKF President Hussein Mohammed, pointing to milestones such as Kenya’s successful co-hosting of the African Nations Championship 2025, the Junior Starlets’ historic qualification for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and the Harambee Starlets booking a place at the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations 2026.
The firm also cited Kenya’s hosting of the FIFA Women’s Series and improvements in the domestic league, including better organization of top-flight competitions, increased visibility for players and clubs, and stronger engagement with commercial partners.
“These gains are contributing to a more vibrant football ecosystem that benefits players, fans, and the broader sports economy,” the statement read.
However, the company weighed in on the ongoing governance concerns at FKF, stressing the need for accountability and due process.
It called for “a thorough, independent investigation” into the allegations currently under review, including any potential leadership changes at the federation.
SportPesa urged stakeholders to ensure a “swift, transparent, and fair resolution” to the dispute, warning that the integrity and recent progress of Kenyan football must be safeguarded.
The firm reiterated that it remains a committed partner to the sport, pledging continued investment in initiatives aimed at strengthening football structures, enhancing commercial viability, and creating opportunities for local talent.
The FKF governance row has drawn growing attention from stakeholders across the sports sector, with calls mounting for clarity and stability in the management of the country’s most popular sport.
