A woman is fighting for her life at Kisii Teaching and Referral Hospital (KTRH) after she was electrocuted at the busy Kisii Capital roundabout on Saturday.
According to eyewitnesses, the woman, believed to be a clothes vendor operating at the junction, was trapped after a power transformer fell on her.

The transformer reportedly came down together with three electricity poles, causing panic among traders, pedestrians, and motorists in the area.
Preliminary reports indicate that a lorry carrying an oversized load may have pulled down power lines, triggering the accident.
The impact is said to have led to the collapse of the electricity infrastructure, resulting in the woman’s electrocution.
The incident caused a major traffic snarl-up within Kisii town’s central business district as emergency responders and officials from Kenya Power rushed to the scene to manage the situation and begin clearance operations.
Authorities have since cordoned off the area as investigations continue.
Motorists and members of the public have been urged to exercise caution and use alternative routes as clearance and safety checks continue.
By the time of publication, the victim remained in critical condition at KTRH.
